Celebrating Autumn’s 6th Birthday

I can hardly believe it, but I am the mum of a 6 year old! After a good couple of months of “How many weeks is it until my birthday?” … Read More

Reuben’s Seaside Themed 1st Birthday Cake Smash

I’m not always overly keen some of the celebrations and often gimmicky type things that we import from the US. However, I do really like cake smashes to celebrate a baby’s 1st birthday. There’s just something so cute about setting up a little scene and seeing how they react to the cake. We celebrated Autumn’s 1st birthday with a rose gold themed cake smash and it was the first time she’d ever tried cake. When Reuben’s 1st birthday approached in January, I knew I wanted us to celebrate his 1st birthday with a cake smash too! He had also never tried cake before and I was interested to see how he’d respond.

We’re still very much in the midst of renovating our house, but I want to decorate his nursery with a seaside theme. We recently got the photos back and once again Robert Marriott has helped make the ideas I pictured in my head a reality. The photos will look so gorgeous displayed in there!

I did consider doing the same for Reuben, but then I looked at things from a different standpoint. I could either do just that and spent most of the day running around him in a stressed out flap getting things ready for a party he wouldn’t remember. Or I could spend the day doing his favourite things with him that he also wouldn’t remember, but would really enjoy at the time. We went for the latter!

Looking back at 30 things I did before 30

A few years ago, I made a list of 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30. Some of my ‘things’ were quite elaborate, some were simpler. I achieved 16 before my 30th birthday at the beginning of the month. I mean, it’s over half and considering there has been a global pandemic for over 18 months of it I’d say that’s pretty good going! Some of the things I ticked off my list have been some of the best memories of the last few years! Let’s take a look…

Rock ‘n’ roll and cupcakes: My 30th Birthday in London

Happy New Year! I think you can still get away with saying that if it’s still within the first couple of weeks of the year? I’ve had an extended break from the blog since just before Christmas which has been quite reinvigorating! However, I’ve been keeping busy as I returned from maternity leave to my day job, celebrated Christmas and celebrated several relative’s and friend’s birthdays. This included my own birthday at the beginning of January, when I turned 30 (eek!) I celebrated with a trip to London, doing some things I’ve wanted to do for years!
