5 steps to being happy – International Day of Happiness

The 20th of March marks the International Day of Happiness. These are my 5 top tips on how to be happy!

Today is the International Day of Happiness, so I thought I’d reflect on how I’ve been feeling lately. Let’s face the facts: Life is stressful, terrible things happen in our world and many things just seem so awful and unfair! I know the cold, dark British winters don’t really help my mood either. However, I can still feel happy despite all of these things. Here are my 5 tips that I follow when I feel myself getting depressed. The 90s tag – my life as a 90s kid!

Life as a 90s kid was pretty good – this post is about what my favourite music, TV and fashions were during my childhood! Get ready for a lot of nostalgia!

I was born right at the beginning of 1992, so looking back on things from the 90s is very nostalgic for me. I miss it in many ways, even though I often wonder what on earth my mum was dressing me in! “It was nice at the time”, she tells me. I have to admit, though, I did buy myself some sparkly silver jelly shoes in River Island the year before last when they came back into fashion!

I am a 90s kid through and through, so when I saw the 90s tag blog post by Jasmine at Thoughts From Jasmine I was so excited. Then I was asked to do it in this wonderful post over at The Bits and Bobs in my Brain.

How (not) to remove a corkscrew nose piercing in 20 steps

This is how I removed my corkscrew nose stud and got it back in again. It was pretty eventful, to say the least!

The other week, I bought myself a nose ring. After a year and a half of having my nose pierced, I thought I’d finally change my stud to a ring as I love how they look.

When I got my nose pierced, the piercer told me that it was a corkscrew nose stud and that they’re difficult to take out and put in. So, this is the tale of how I took my stud out and put the ring in. Continue reading “How (not) to remove a corkscrew nose piercing in 20 steps”

30 things to do before 30

Here is my list of 30 things I’d like to do before my 30th birthday.

As my friends keep reminding me, as I have recently turned 25 I am now closer to 30 than I am 20! Quite frankly, this kind of scares me as time seems to have gone so fast since I was 16 and seems to go quicker each year. As such, I felt the need to make a list of things I’d like to do before I turn 30. Hopefully I can achieve quite a few of these, so even if the time goes quickly, I’ll feel like I’ve achieved a lot with it!

My 10 top tips for dealing with a cold

Here are my 10 top tips for dealing with a cold to get rid of it faster and more comfortably, including the importance of Vitamin D.

A few days ago, I got a bad cold and now poor little Autumn has a cold too. It was the first time I had a bad cold and had to look after a child. I have to say I did miss being able to just curl up and feel sorry for myself, especially when she started screaming and I had a banging headache! However, it was just a cold, I know things could be much worse. I just got on with it and did the usual things that I do when I have a cold to try and get through it quicker and more comfortably: Continue reading “My 10 top tips for dealing with a cold”

10 Reasons why I love my husband

A list of 10 of the many reasons that I love my husband this Valentine’s Day

Today is Valentine’s Day and it’s made me think about all the reasons why I love my husband. I think as time goes on and when the dynamics of a relationship change after you have a child, it’s quite common for couples to undervalue each other and not appreciate each other enough a lot of the time. Dave usually reads all my blog posts before they go live, he’s so supportive of my blog (and anything I do, actually). He doesn’t know that I’m writing this one though, so I guess this is kind of my way of saying “I might not always show it, but I love and appreciate you so much! Happy Valentine’s Day, darling!” I know he’ll have a huge smile when this pops up in his inbox this morning. Continue reading “10 Reasons why I love my husband”

10 Signs your child may have anxiety – Children’s Mental Health Week

What are the signs that your child has clinical anxiety? Here’s a useful guide.

It’s Children’s Mental Health Week 2017 from 6th-12th February, which is a cause very important to me. I suffered from anxiety in childhood and did not get the support that I needed. I remember my parents taking me see our GP at the age of 10, as I’d been feeling sick every morning on my way to school (it was around the time I took the eleven-plus and I think this triggered my anxiety around that time). The doctor just dismissed it as ‘school phobia’, basically saying that I was just making up feeling sick to try and get out of going to school. I wasn’t though,  I loved primary school! Fortunately, a lot has changed over the last 15 years or so and there seems to be more awareness and support available now than there was for me.
