When should you first take baby to the dentist? (+WIN)

So, when should you take your child to the dentist for the first time? There seems to be a lot of misinformation around about when you should take your baby for their first check up. Shortly before Autumn turned 6 months old, I went to a class at one of our local Children’s Centres. As well as learning about weaning, we learnt about dental care too. It turns out that where I’m based in Medway there’s a scheme where babies are given a Medway Smiles passport. It’s encouraged that they first go to the dentist between 6 and 8 months old.

The NSFW side of CBeebies

If you live in the UK have a pre-school child, chances are that you are well acquainted with CBeebies. Astonishingly, some mums (and dads) actually start to have a bit of a thing for some of the characters. Mrs Helicopter is no stranger to these feelings (don’t read if you’re faint-hearted, or weak-stomached for that matter!) While I’m absolutely certain I’ll never be one of the “tumble tarts“, (women who would actually like to get together with Mr. Tumble for some fun), you do find that your brain seems to try and find ways to make it more interesting. After all, it’s quite mundane having the same old brain-numbing thing rotated three times a day and seeing the same episodes every couple of weeks.

I’ve noticed that on occasion, things are said that sound quite dirty out of context. Sometimes it could even be misconstrued within context! I like to think that they throw these things in to keep us on our toes and see if we’re actually listening.

Aldi Baby & Toddler Event – put this in your diary!

Okay, ‘fess up. Who else loves a good Aldi Baby and Toddler Event? I think I’ve only missed one since I found out I was pregnant with Autumn. I’d been planning to go, but I was kind of busy giving birth that morning!

10 tips to save money at the supermarket

A few years ago at the age of 20, my then fiancé, now husband, and I were saving money for a deposit for our first house. This led me to think of various ways of saving money, including when shopping in the supermarket. This continued in the first year of owning our house as at that point our combined wages were only just enough to pay the mortgage and bills, until I got another job which made things a lot more comfortable for us. However, now that I’m on maternity leave, I am having to watch the pennies again. Here are my top tips for saving money when shopping in supermarkets!

A letter to my daughter at 7 months old

Dear Autumn,

I say this every month, but time is going much too fast! It seems barely any time has passed since I was writing a letter to you at 6 months old! You’re so big now, it hurts my back to carry you. Nanny found my book from when I was a baby and you weigh around 3lbs more than I did when I was your age!

What a good girl. When you came out of hospital after being seriously ill, I kept telling you to drink your milk. I told you that it would make you grow big and strong! Here we are almost half a year later and you’re doing so well.
